Using A Dirty Beauty Sponge….Yep, I’m THAT Person.

Hello lovely!

I’m almost embarrassed to admit this, but I’m the type of person who waits FAR too long to clean my Beauty Sponges. YIKES! I know, its gross. You can take a moment to cringe, I did. But as a Mom of two, my makeup routine is usually rushed, and forgetting to clean my makeup tools happens. So if you are anywhere close to being like me, its okay, I won’t tell anyone. Just follow me through the easiest way to clean your Beauty Sponges, truly you’ll be left with no excuse as to why you haven’t been doing this all along!

Yes, they are really THAT dirty! I’m going to go hide my face now haha.

Step 1– Wet your sponge under warm water. Then apply your favorite soap to your sponge, lather real good. (I use an Organic Olive Oil Body Wash. You can use a baby body wash, dish soap, or an organic wash like me. Any soap that will get a good bubbly lather.) After lathered really well, rinse under warm water. Repeat this step until you are satisfied with the cleanliness of your sponge.

*I tend to choose organic products more often than not. Mainly due to skin sensitivity, and avoiding unwanted chemicals being absorbed into my skin.

Step 2– Once you are satisfied, you are going to sanitize your sponge. This is done in a microwave. Place your sponge(s) in a microwave safe bowl, make sure you add water to the bowl. DO NOT do this step with a dry sponge. Sanitize in microwave for 2 minutes. Let cool.

*This is going to get rid of any gross bacteria that may be lingering on your sponge.

Step 3– After your sponge has cooled down, squeeze out any remaining water, and let completely dry. You will want to let your sponge dry in a ventilated area, otherwise you are creating the perfect place for bacteria to live again. Let’s pass on that nastiness!

Step 4– Enjoy! You now have a clean and sanitized Beauty Sponge!
